Fredericton Pride festival cancelled, organizers cite harassment, safety concerns
Organizers of the annual Lgbtq+ fest festival in Fredericton declare they&#;ve cancelled this year&#;s edition because the group&#;s board members are facing intense harassment.
In a social media post late Thursday night, Fierté Fredericton Self-acceptance said the decision &#;has not been made lightly&#; and that organizers considered alternatives.
The group didn&#;t offer details about its reasons for cancelling the event, but earlier in July had condemned the &#;backlash&#; it received for its vocal support of Palestinians in the war with Israel, and its conclusion to name an activist organization called Fredericton Palestine Solidarity as grand marshal in the city&#;s Self-acceptance parade.

Fredericton Pride is the biggest weekend on the male lover calendar for the queer community in New Brunswick, Canada. Hosted from July 14 – 23, Fredericton Pride was a fun and vibrant celebration in the capital city of New Brunswick, a cherished maritime province in Atlantic Canada.
The nine-day lineup of events included fabulous drag shows, social gatherings, outdoor adventures, community events, and the main event, the Fredericton Event parade.
People came from across the province and surrounding regions to attend Fredericton Pride events and to show their support for the queer community in Fredericton, especially given the current political discourse over Policy , where Premier Blaine Higgs and his conservative government have sparked outrage with the LGBGQ+ communities and their allies.
