Middlesbrough's only gay club shuts, but it might not be forever as staff step in
Middlesbrough's only LGBT club has shut its doors - but staff say they want to take it over in a bid to retain the town's dwindling queer scene.
Mystery surrounds the sudden closure of Tiny, on Albert Road , last week, after the landlord changed the locks.
Now a group of employees has handed him a page business wedding offer in a bid to keep the popular venue open.
Employee Matt Campbell, who has worked at the late-night club since it opened, said: "I've taken on the role of manager over recent months, although it was never formal.
"I don't know what's gone on but the owner hasn't really been involved for quite a while.
"There was a team of us, maybe six or seven that own been there since it opened.
"We kept it running.
"Tiny is a lovely venue, we always promote ourselves as safe, friendly and attitude-free.
"That's what it feels like, it's a community."
