National Gay Wedding Association

Born out of the personal encounter of our Founding Director Ric Simmons, the National Same-sex attracted Wedding Association began as a resource for LGBTQ+ couples navigating the wedding planning process as queer people. After the landmark victory of Obergfell v. Hodges in , same-sex couples were guaranteed their constitutional right to marry in all 50 of the United States. Of course, this decision was followed by a series of challenges from local government and private business owners, making wedding planning complicated for queer couples who were still denied services around the country.

In response, we started “My Texas Gay Wedding” and eventually expanded to a national platform with “My Queer Wedding.” We soon realized that despite the excitement from vendors who wanted to implement inclusive business practices, there were scant resources available to form that possible within the wedding industry. National Gay Wedding Association answered the call to become the go-to origin for wedding vendors and professionals in search of LGBTQ-specific resources and tips

INDIAN WELLS, CA — A nonprofit aimed at equipping wedding planners with the proper tools to create inclusive LGBTQ-friendly weddings will host its inaugural conference in Indian Wells next year, it was announced Tuesday.

New LGBTQ+ Conference for Wedding Officiants & Industry Pros!

The first annual NGWA Inclusive Awareness Conference invites LGBTQ+ wedding pros and like-minded experts to meet, mingle, learn, advocate, and inspire. 

 

 

The National Gay Wedding Association will smash off  with a brand novel virtual conference for LGBTQ+ wedding professionals and like-minded industry experts. 

 

Called “Share-the-Love," the NGWA’s inaugural Inclusive Awareness Conference seeks to instruct and inspire wedding professionals functional with LGBTQ+ couples, and to cultivate a more welcoming wedding industry.
