DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM are pleased to present our first solo exhibition with SOUFIANE ABABRI (b. Rabat, Morocco, ) at the gallery. Titled SOMETHING Modern UNDER THE Small PRINCE’S BODY, it will open on Friday, 08 November, at 6–8 PM. Installed over various tones of flesh-painted walls, the exhibition features a modern body of figurative colored-pencil drawings prompting a discourse on sexuality and interracial love among postcolonial-era gays. Ababri, who often stages interventions or workshops, activates the exhibition on opening night with an accompanying recital in the gallery, initiating the bond and narrative between the Prince and his new significant other and featuring body-to-body movements, song, and texts.

One of the most influential artists of the post-World War II period, Dieter Roth was born in Hanover, Germany, in , to a German mother and a Swiss father, and died in Basel, Switzerland in Dieter Roth was an designer of an immense diversity and breadth, producing books, graphics, drawings, paintings, sculptures, assemblages, installations, audio and media works involving slides, sound recordings, film and video. He also worked as a composer, poet, writer and musician. He often collaborated with other artists, subverting the rule of authorship. Those partners included such significant figures as Richard Hamilton, Emmett Williams, Arnulf Rainer, and Hermann Nitsch. But it was Roth's long and symbiotic collaboration with his son, artist Björn Roth, that stands as testament to the enormous and enduring potency of his restless, relentless process.
