    The Human Rights Campaign’s annual Municipal Equality Index rated more than cities and towns based on how inclusive their municipal laws, policies and services are of the LGBTQ people who live and work there. Each municipality was rated on a scale of 0 to based on 49 different criteria including nondiscrimination laws and “city leadership’s widespread position on equality.”

    This year’s report heralded 88 cities with a perfect score of , and many of the index's high-scoring municipalities can be set up in states not typically thought of as being inclusive to lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, transgender and queer people.

    Here are 11 small cities (less than , residents) in red states (those that haven’t voted for a Democrat for president in the 21st Century) that scored at least an 80 on HRC’s Municipal Equality Index.

    DRAG QUEEN BINGO

    Drag Queen Bingo is one of our most popular events and happens every other month throughout the year. This bimonthly FUNdraiser is an absolute riot with a rotating

    cast of drag queens, fabulous prizes, and more! Starting in February, bingo is held every other month at Lee Avenue Lounge in Charleston WV. It’s $20 to play and folks must be 21+ to attend.

    Pride Bowling is a fundraiser that’s fun for all ages! Pride Bowling takes place every other month throughout the year at Galaxy Lanes in Kanawha City WV. It’s $20 per person to bowl…with plenty of chances to win great prizes. Plus the Bowling Alley Flamboyant Show is a must-see. Whether you get lots of strikes or too many gutters, you're guaranteed to have a superb time!

    The Sunday after Pride we gather at Shawnee Sports Complex in Institute to play kickball with other Pride organizations from around the region! Everyone is welcome to join our team!
