Lux Lounge is an alternative bar in the South Wedge, similar to what you'd find in a city like Portland or NYC. The atmosphere is very laid-back and conducive for conversation. Weekly specials are identified on the Lux website.
Lux offers arts & crafts nights, as skillfully as benches and a hammock out back during warmer months. In the winter there is a fire and board games inside, and not to mention a juke box.
Though not an actual gay bar, Lux prides itself on existence GLBTQ-friendly and generally accepting of all kinds of people.

With a rich history of civil rights, it shouldn't advance as a shock that Rochester is among the most welcoming, LGBTQ-friendly metro areas in the U.S., previously ranked 11th in Advocates Gayest Cities in America list. It's also one of the most culturally abundant. Rochester has also previously received a perfect score of from the Human Rights Campaign.
Tucked between Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes wine region, the tradition of dignity for all runs deep here. Susan B. Anthony's home, a National Historic Landmark, still stands in Rochester and is expose to the general. Frederick Douglass established his abolitionist newspaper, The North Luminary, here. The first statue in the country honoring an African-American still stands in Highland Park.
From locally-owned coffee shops and restaurants, to nightlife, art, tradition, shopping and more, explore all that Rochesters vibrant and diverse LGBTQ+ group has to offer.

What was once one of Rochester’s defining gay clubs presented an upbeat, and familiar setting, for anyone, gay or straight.

It had once been a private residence, and allegedly a brothel. Now, it’s one of Rochester’s most active live music clubs. Danny Deutsch, who owns and runs the place, is celebrating the Tara legacy starting at noon, Sept. 3. There’ll be a singalong with the piano, just appreciate the old days at Tara. The day will be a benefit for Trillium Health, specializing in care for LGBTQ+ people.

Our focus is creating a unique and safe place for the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.With a fabulous drink menu and occupied kitchen featuring many handcrafted items, stop in for dinner on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and do not miss our happiest hours featuring $2 off drinks from PM.
We feature local drag talent every day but in different ways than a traditional drag bar would.
